Environmental Impact of Fashion

Did you know that the fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world, just after oil industry? The amount of carbon emissions it produces is more than all international flights and maritime shipping combined. However, the industry continues to grow due to the rise of fast fashion, which relies on cheap manufacturing, frequent consumption and short-lived garment use. At this pace, the industry’s emissions could increase by more than 60% by 2030, while it would need to cut by 80% by 2050 to align with the international goal of remaining under two-degrees of climate warming.
